Kammerman Orthodontics Garden City

When you first have your braces fitted you may notice a slight difference in your speech. This is not something you need to worry about and in virtually all cases this issue resolves itself within a few days.

The change in your voice is because you are not used to wearing braces. Imagine you are talking and you put a piece of candy in your mouth. The candy will also have an effect on your mouth and this will alter how you sound. Once you become used to the braces being there your voice will return to it’s regular sound.

It’s all about learning how to speak correctly with the braces in place. Thankfully the human body is very good at adapting to different circumstances (your mouth is no exception). One you accept the braces, your mouth will be able to relax and your voice will return to normal.
