When your treatment comes to an end and we remove your braces this is not the end of the journey. You now have a fantastic smile but we’re sure you want to keep it that way.
Retention is an essential part of the process. We would hate you to commit to a period of brace wearing, only to see your teeth revert to their former positions. You will be provided with a retainer. These are small devices strategically placed to provide resistance to your teeth and stop them from trying to move back.
At first, your retainer should be worn at all times. Your orthodontist will then advise you on how often and when you should continue to wear the retainer. It takes time for your teeth to accept their new positions and the retainer is there to gently hold them in place.
The retention process and duration vary from patient to patient. Your orthodontist will provide you with full details specific to you when your treatment reaches that stage.
We have a selection of reveal videos of our patients right after they have had their braces removed. You may be interested in watching there to see what you have to look forward to.
If you are interested in getting a better smile we would love to work with you to make this happen.
