Why do you place the Damon braces higher on the top front teeth?

Another great question. The answer is simple, “ smile arc” . Smile arc is defined by the relationship of the biting edges of the top front teeth to the curvature of the lower lip when smiling in the posed position. The best smile arc and the most beautiful smiles occur when the edges of the top teeth touch or almost touch the lower lip when smiling in the posed position as in the picture shown here.

Brace placement

Notice the arc made by the top front teeth from front to back with the two front teeth being positioned in the lowest part of the arc. Consistent beautiful smile arcs can only be accomplished with higher bracket placement.
